YOUR UPCOMING GHG EMISSIONS DISCLOSURES

To date, efforts to measure and disclose emissions have been largely voluntary. New regulations are now being rolled out globally meaning that emissions disclosures will become mandatory. The SEC's recent proposal requires all companies with a public listing in the US to disclose Scope 1, 2 and in most cases Scope 3 emissions.

The CSRD requirements from the EU will require all large businesses based in the EU to report their Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

The UK new TCFD and SECR requirements for large UK businesses will require the disclosure of Scope 1 and 2 emissions and in the case of TCFD, Scope 3.

All of the G20 political leaders have made similar commitments with new proposed rules in the process of being drafted or to follow shortly. Even if countries are slow to implement, companies might still need help to deal with emissions disclosures to comply with carbon import taxes that are being implemented in places like the EU. In short, no large company will be immune to some level of carbon disclosure in coming years.
